Le Stanze della Fotografia is a new international center dedicated to photography and image culture, promoted by Marsilio Arte and Fondazione Giorgio Cini as a continuation of the experience of Casa dei Tre Oci. Located in the Sale del Convitto on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore, it is conceived as an exhibition and research space devoted to the culture of images.
We developed the brand identity starting from a fundamental photographic gesture: the shutter opening and closing. The logo translates this movement into an essential and dynamic mark — not a representation of an image, but a metaphor of the act of photographing itself.
The visual system is deliberately simple. Graphics and typography are reduced to the essential, with clear structures and clean compositions. This restraint leaves space for the photographs and assigns a central role to colour.
Pink becomes the distinctive element of the identity. An unexpected choice within the institutional context of photography, it creates immediate recognizability and strong spatial presence. The colour runs across all communication materials, contrasting with the black and white of the images. It does not decorate — it identifies, orients and defines the space.
