Engaging with antiquity is one of the most stimulating challenges a contemporary designer can face. When we were invited to design the merchandising for the Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli, we chose to work precisely on this dialogue, bringing the heritage of the classical world into conversation with a contemporary visual language.
We developed several product lines capable of reinterpreting the strength and monumentality of the works displayed in the museum, transforming them into everyday objects. The goal was not simply to reproduce antiquity, but to translate it into a present-day form — accessible, light and immediate.
Playing with elegance and irony, we introduced the line ’o sole, ’o mare, ’o mann, which almost becomes a small manifesto for the museum: an expression that connects the archaeological heritage with the vitality of the city of Naples. A direct and affectionate way to tell the story of the museum through the language and imagination of the city itself.
