Icaro Hotel, located on the Alpe di Siusi in Castelrotto, is a hotel immersed in the landscape of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Originally built in the 1930s as a simple mountain refuge, the building has recently been expanded and reimagined by MoDus Architects through a project that engages in dialogue with the Alpine landscape and the tradition of mountain hospitality.
The architecture combines wood, rigorous geometries and large columns that frame the panorama of the plateau, transforming the hotel into a sort of inhabitable landscape between nature, design and Alpine culture.
Inside, the hotel appears as a contemporary Wunderkammer, where artworks, collections and artistic interventions coexist with the spaces of hospitality and with the telescope-shaped rooms designed to observe the surrounding landscape.
We designed the hotel’s brand identity working on the idea of plurality and transformation. The logo originates from a simple shape that transforms following the profile of the mountains visible from the hotel. The sign is not fixed but variable: a series of deformations that echo the different silhouettes of the Alpine landscape, making the identity dynamic and deeply connected to the place.
This transformation generates a flexible visual system capable of adapting to different communication contexts while maintaining strong recognizability.
We also developed the signage system, corporate communication and digital communication elements, creating a visual language able to interact with the architecture, the landscape and the collectible character of the interiors.
