M9 District is an urban regeneration project that transformed an area previously occupied by a former barracks and a convent into a new cultural hub. A system of public spaces where architecture, the museum, and everyday life intersect.
The challenge
Designing a wayfinding system able to guide visitors without imposing itself, in balance with the elegance of the architecture. A language that needed to be clear and functional, yet coherent with the identity of the place and deliberately contrasting with the museum’s digital experience.
The solution
CamuffoLab designed an entirely analog wayfinding system, differentiating materials and functions: iron for the signage inside the museum, copper for the external system, in dialogue with the urban context. The project works through reduction, relying on materials, proportions, and formal clarity. Retail spaces — the bookshop and the restaurant — were enriched with illustrations that echo the visual language of the museum interiors, extending it across the district. The result is a coherent and discreet system, conceived to orient and accompany visitors while leaving room for architecture and experience.
