M9 is a contemporary history museum of a new kind: an immersive and experiential media museum that uses advanced technology to narrate the Italian 20th century. At the same time, it acts as a cultural hub open to the city, conceived as a public space for exchange, research, and cultural production.
The Challenge
The project required a graphic intervention able to coexist with a strongly digital exhibition path without competing with it. The goal was to introduce a complementary, analog layer—immediate and accessible—that could help visitors navigate the content and build connections with the collective imagery of the last century.
The Solution
CamuffoLab curated the graphic installation inside the large Black Box, introducing analog wall illustrations representing some of the most significant icons of Italian 20th-century culture. The illustrative system was developed through research carried out in collaboration with a team of specialized historians, with the aim of supporting understanding and interaction with the digital installations. The result is a visual language that balances technology with clarity and recognition, enriching the museum’s narrative experience.
