The Pierluigi Penzo Stadium, located on the island of Sant’Elena and surrounded by the Venetian lagoon, is Italy’s second oldest football ground, inaugurated in 1913. In 2021, after nineteen years away from Serie A, it was rapidly restored to bring Venezia FC back to its historic home.
The Challenge
We wanted to restore identity and dignity to a unique place while preserving its original character. Our goal was to create harmony with the city—working on beauty and proportion rather than competition—and to build a visual language that felt both understated and deeply connected to Venice’s context.
The Solution
We designed the seating pattern of the North and South Curves and the Distinti stands, inspired by the movement of the lagoon’s waves. The club’s historic colors—orange, black, and green—were reinterpreted in a contemporary key for the façade and signage, creating an elegant and essential graphic system. The result is an intervention that turns the stadium into a natural extension of Venice itself: vibrant, authentic, and deeply rooted in its landscape.
